{"id":585710,"date":"2023-09-05T12:11:35","date_gmt":"2023-09-05T11:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/?p=585710"},"modified":"2023-09-05T12:11:35","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T11:11:35","slug":"ulster-premiership-instonians-77-bangor-7-d2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.thefrontrowunion.com\/frusport\/?p=585710","title":{"rendered":"Ulster Premiership: Instonians 77 Bangor 7 D2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">I caught up with the Ulster Premiership Division 2 clash between Instonains and Bangor at a sunny Shaws Bridge on Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Unfortunately for the hard working Bangor side they met an Instonians team in top form who where ready to showcase their summer signings as <strong>David Whitten<\/strong>, <strong>Ritchie McMaster<\/strong> and <strong>Ian Whitten<\/strong> all got a run out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/20230902-Instonians-v-Bangor-John-McMurtry-006-1-800x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-585861\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Instonians David Whitten picked  up a hat trick of tries for Instonians. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The FRU Sport Senior Player of 2022-23 was the first to make an impact with a typically abrasive run leading to a quick tap penalty executed by <strong>Mark Keane<\/strong> for the opening try, converted by McMaster to give Instonians a 7 &#8211; 0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A brace from <strong>Bevan Prinsloo<\/strong> quickly followed as Inst continued to surge forward and with McMaster flawless from the tee the score rattled along to 21 &#8211; 0 at the end of the first quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/20230902-Instonians-v-Bangor-John-McMurtry-068-1-800x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-585862\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bevan Prinsloo scores his second try for Instonians. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Bangor worked hard throughout and an interception try by <strong>Connor Scollan<\/strong>, converted by <strong>Mark Widdowson<\/strong>,  got them on the scoreboard at 21 &#8211; 7. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-09-02-connor-scollan-try-bangor.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Connor Scollan finishes under the posts for Bangor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately for the visitors it was only temporary relief as David Whitten grabbed a quick brace before <strong>Robert Whitten<\/strong> crossed with the final try of the half to take the score to 42 &#8211; 7 as the teams changed ends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/20230902-Instonians-v-Bangor-John-McMurtry-349-1-800x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-585864\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">All smiles from Simon McMaster who claimed a second half brace. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rhys O&#8217;Donnell<\/strong> nipped over for a try for Instonians early in the second half and he was followed by <strong>Simon McMaster <\/strong>and David Whitten, for his that trick, to take the score to 63 &#8211; 7 at the end of the third quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefrontrowunion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/20230902-Instonians-v-Bangor-John-McMurtry-128-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-585865\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Golden boots Ritchie McMaster converted 11 out of 11 for Instonians. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matthew Keane<\/strong> scored a fine solo effort for Instonians&#8217; 10th try and Simon McMaster picked up his second to close out the game.
