On Friday evening Queens were the visitors to NI Civil Service for the opening Men\u2019s Premiership fixture of the season, at Stormont. On a thoroughly miserable evening, only the intensity of the rain varied through the course of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Thompson opened the scoring for NI Civil Service<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Queens pressed from push back, forcing Serve back, defending high up the pitch. Despite their dominance Queens couldn\u2019t score. On a rare breakout James Thompson<\/strong> latched on to a long ball and slotted it past the advancing keeper, to give Service a 1-0 lead at the end of the 1st<\/sup> quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conor Irwin equalised for Queens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Queens continued to dominate but it was not until the 23rd<\/sup> minute that Conor Irwin<\/strong> rifled in an equaliser. It was 1-1 at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Queens continued to press Irwin got his 2nd<\/sup> goal of the game to put Queens up 2-1, after40 minutes. They led 2-1 at the end of the 3rd<\/sup> quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was no shortage of action in the NI Civil Service goal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Queens domination continued into the 4th<\/sup> quarter. When Ben Farson<\/strong> nudged the ball home after 57 minutes, it seemed that the game was dead. Service substituted out their keeper and with the outfield player advantage pulled a goal back, through Chris McRoberts<\/strong>, on 59 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Queens played out the final seconds to secure a opening victory, on the road, 3-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
