On Saturday, at lunchtime, Banbridge were the visitors to The Dub, for a Women’s Premiership tie with Queens.

Queens set about their task, with a series of attacks, before Jenna McCarlie opened the scoring, after 5 minutes.

On 9 minutes Eva Gaston drove into the D and unleashed a powerful shot for Queens to lead 2-0.

Banbridge responded when Joni Cunningham was, on from a penalty corner, to drive home and reduce the lead to 1-2, after 13 minutes. Queens led 2-1 at the end of the 1st quarter.

A brace of 2nd quarter goals by Alyssa Jebb, after 18 and 25 minutes, followed by Katie Kimber’s goal gave Queen a commanding 5-1 at halftime.
Banbridge were living on scraps, rarely able to get out of their own half. Jebb collected her hat trick on 33 minutes and Rhiannon Coulter celebrated her birthday with a 45 minute goal. Queens led 7-1 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Zoe Wilson’s 49th minute goal completed the 8-1 rout in the first game of the Women’s Premiership season.
