Women Junior 1: Queen’s University II 1 Ards II 2

On Saturday, at lunchtime Ards II were the visitors to The Dub to play Queens II in a Women’s Junior One league fixture.

The 1^st half was end to end, with both keepers tested by attacks, but defences held firm. The half ended 0-0.

The deadlock was broken in the 34^th minute when Aimee Adair scored from a narrow angle to put Ards 1-0 up. At the end of the 3^rd quarter Ards led 1-0.

The 4^th quarter was a minute old when Megan Getty equalised, and it was all to play for a 1-1. Play bounced back and forth, before Amy Crossman’s 50^th minute goal restored Ards’ lead.

As Queen’s sought an equaliser, they laid siege to but couldn’t breech the Ards defence. Ards ran out 2-1 winners in a game that could have gone either way.
