We caught up with our Championship 2 featured team, Academy, for a top of the table clash against current leaders Randalstown at roughfort on Saturday afternoon.
In atrocious conditions both teams produced some nice rugby and it was the visitors who opened the scoring when No 11, Paul McLean went over in the corner for an unconverted try.

Rain and a slippery ball led to handling and tackling errors which cost Randalstown dearly in the first half with Academy’s No 12, Harry Warke kicking 4 successful penalties with Randalstown replying with one penalty kick, ably converted by their full back, Eoin Letters.

The second half continued in the same vein with handling errors all round.
The home side extended their lead with another couple of penalties kicked by Warke but at the same time conceding penalties, 3 of which were kicked by Letters.

In the dying minutes Randalstown were awarded a further penalty for a home indiscretion and upped stepped Letters to put the visitors ahead at the very death! Whistle blown and a valuable away win!
