On Sunday afternoon Malone made the short journey to Deramore Park to play Belfast Harlequins in a Women’s Premiership fixture. Unbeaten Malone lay 1st in the table, Quins 6th.

In the early clashes Malone dominated possession but it took until the 11th minute to register their first try, when Jill Stephens sniped over far out, on the right for a 5-0 lead. She crossed under the posts for Donna McGovern to convert after 14 minutes. On 21 minutes, she claimed her hat trick, with Malone now leading 17-0.

Quins gained some possession but had to answer when Malone attacked from deep. Anna Stansfield’s 25thminute try had Malone leading 22-0, before Sarah Murphy’s try moved Malone out to 27-0.

Emma Jordan crossed on 32 minutes, followed by Lauren Hassett’s 40th minute effort, converted by McGovern, gave Malone a very comfortable 39-0 halftime lead.
Jordan completed her hat trick with tries on 44 and 50 minutes. Not to be outdone, Stephens piled in with tries on 46 and 56 minutes. Two conversions by McGovern completed the scoring.
Malone thoroughly deserved their 63-0 victory over a very game Quins side, who showed some enterprise with very limited possession.
