Ireland U21 Women finished off the Uniphar U21 Series in style with a 4 – 1 win against Scotland U21 at Ulster University Jordanstown on Thursday morning.
The Junior Green Army had edged ahead 2 – 1 in the series on Wednesday evening, thanks to a 1 – 0 win, and Thursday’s result saw the home side secure the series 3 – 1.
It was quite a turnaround for the Irish team, who were somewhat fortunate to take the win in the opening game before going down 1 – 2 in the second, however their conversion rate up front saw them through with Leah O’Shea, in particular, too hot to handle for the Scottish defence.

Scotland took the lead in this game with a first quarter goal from Zara Kennedy and it was a lead that they took into the second half in what was starting to look like another tight game.

However, Ireland came roaring back in the second half with O’Shea converting two penalty corners to give Ireland a 2 – 1 lead in the third quarter.
It was all out attack from Scotland in the final quarter but a wonderful pass out of the Irish defence was latched on to by Jenna McCarlie who drew the keeper before passing to Tory Byrne for a simple tap in to take the score to 3 – 1.
As Scotland continued to push forward Ireland added a fourth goal with Olivia Brady finding the net for a 4 – 1 win.
