On Friday, at high noon, Ulster U18 Schools faced the USA’s Eagle Impact Rugby Academy, at Newforge Country Club, in South Belfast, in one of the last two games, in EIRA’s tour of Ireland.

Ulster caught EIRA cold, in the opening minutes. Fast recycled ball found its way to Harry Lamont, who charged over after 3 minutes. Owen O’Kane’s conversion made it 7-0 to Ulster. There was no further scoring in a very evenly contested 1st half. Ulster led 7-0 at the break.

An early second half try by Cameron Dale moved Ulster out to 12-0. EIRA responded with a brace of tries on 51 minutes and 59 minutes by Zachary Cullen, both converted by Ilan Menom, to take the lead 14-12.

Following a series of penalties, Ulster gained territory, close to the EIRA line, allowing Charlie Hargy to drive over, in the closing seconds to restore Ulster’s lead, at 17-14.
Ulster just about deserved victory, in a very close fought entertaining game.
