Club Hockey: Portadown Ladies U15 Girls Hockey Tournament Finals.

After a bit of a delay due to the Antrim Coast Half Marathon I eventually caught up with Finals Day at the Portadown Ladies Hockey Club U15 Girls Tournament at Edenvilla Park on Sunday.

I picked up three games, the 5th-6th place play off, the 3rd-4th place play off, and the final.

In the 5th-6th place play off, Coleraine Hockey Club beat Old Alex Hockey Club 2-0. The goals for Coleraine were scored by Bonnie Connor-Boyd and Zoe Wilmott.

The final was played between Portadown Hockey Club and a President’s XI with Portadown winning 7 – 2 in a rain soaked game.

The teams were led onto the pitch by bagpipe playing umpire Bill Harvey.

Portadown were too hot to handle with Evie “The Real Deal” Girvan leading the way. Girvan opened the scoring in a tight first half which finished with Portadown leading 2 – 0 after Thompson found the net.

Further goals came from Girvan, Thompson and Henderson in the second half as the players pushed through the torrential downpour. The President’s XI got some reward for their effort with 2 second half goals.
