On Sunday afternoon, in the second game of a double header, Ulster U19 Men hosted Munster U19 Men at Newforge Sports Complex.

Jordan McAuley had a fine game with the boot, kicking 4 penalty goal and a conversion

Ulster started brightly and took the lead through a Jordan McAuley penalty goal, after 3 minutes.

Tom McAllister scored Ulster’s only try.

Munster pressure yielded a Ted O’Callaghan try, converted by Dylan Hicks for a 7-3 lead, after 6 minutes. Ulster did not sit back. A try by Tom McAllister, converted by McAuley, moved Ulster 10-7 ahead, after 11 minutes.

Luca Cleary’s 19th minute try, and Hicks conversion put Munster 14-10 up, before a McAuley penalty goal, kept Ulster, in the hunt, at 13-14.

A 32nd minute Oisin Minogue try gave Munster a comfortable 19-13 halftime lead.

Munster’s stonewall defence didn’t concede any 2nd half tries

Two McAuley penalty goals had Ulster level at 19-19, after 44 minutes. Both defences were on top, until 2 Ulster yellow cards allowed Munster space. 

Finn Casserley’s 60th minute try, followed by Gene O’Leary-Kareem’s 68th minute try, converted by Hicks gave Munster a deserved 31-19 victory, before a long journey and late arrival home.
