On Sunday afternoon, as the first game of a double header Ulster U18 Clubs hosted Munster U18 Clubs at Newforge Sports Complex.

After a few minutes of settling in, Munster opened the scoring. Following a quick tap penalty, Cathal Garvey darted over on the right after 11 minutes.
Ulster responded quickly when Ryan Hannah drove over after 13 minutes. Conor McVicker’s conversion put Ulster 7-5 up, after 13 minutes.
Munster doubled their score on 22 minutes, following a lineout maul, when Christian Foley touched down in the right corner, to lead 10-7.

David Coyne added a third Munster try, after 27 minutes, converted by Michael Connellan, to lead 17-7. A Cameron Cummings try on 34 minutes, converted by McVicker, pulled Ulster back to 14-17. Munster had the last say of the first half when Eli Reynolds scored, on the left, for Connellan to convert, to give Munster a 24-14 halftime lead.
Defences were largely on top in the second period. Reynolds found space, on the left, after 65 minutes, to put Munster 29-14 up.

Ulster had the last say of the game, as time ran out, when Ryan McDowell was put into space, on the right, to run round the Munster defence. Danny Guy converted to leave the final score 29-19 to Munster, who faced a long drive home.
