I stayed close to home on Saturday morning to pick up the Ulster Hockey Schools Ist XI Superleague match between Larne Grammar and Coleraine Grammar at Lower Cairncastle Road.
Both teams had their provincial players available and it was a strong looking Coleraine side that arrived to take on a much changed young Larne team.
I was only able to take in the first half of this one but there was plenty of action from two strong sides.

Coleraine enjoyed the early pressure keeping Larne on the back foot early on but the home team managed to create a few chances with Isla Allen prominent. However it was Coleraine who took the lead with Anna Shaw finding the net at a penalty corner.

Larne had a strong second quarter as they started to find some joy down the flanks and Allen Pulled the game back to 11 with a well taken strike on the edge of the D after a rebound at a penalty corner.
Larne continued to push forward throughout the quarter but were unable to find a second and as I left the game at half time the score was tied at 1 – 1.
There was no score in the third quarter and the game looked to be heading towards a draw as the clock ticked down in the fourth.

Unfortunately for Larne a lapse of concentration in the closing minutes saw coleraines Gracie McNally pounce for the winner.
