The rain was incessant at a grey overcast Upper Malone for the All Ireland League Division One game between Annadale and Lisnagarvey on Saturday afternoon.

Garvey sprayed the ball around from push back, controlling midfield and preventing the Annadale forwards having any access to ball. Oliver Kidd opened the scoring for Garvey on 12 minutes, quickly followed by Matthew Aughey’s strike on 15 minutes to give Garvey a 2-0 1st quarter lead.

Garvey piled on the pressure in the 2nd quarter. A Ben Nelson brace on 20 and 23 minutes moved Garvey out to 4-0. Daniel Nelson’s 25th minute effort had Garvey at 5-0 before David Tremlett pulled one back for Annadale before the break Garvey led 5-1 at halftime.
Whether it was the poor conditions or not, but the game stagnated in the 3rd quarter. Spencer Pinion pulled another goal back for Annadale to leave them trailing 2-5 at the end of the quarter.

Garvey had the last say when James Lorimer’s 58th minute strike game Garvey a very comfortable and deserved 6-2 victory.
