On Wednesday afternoon Campbell College hosted Royal Belfast Academical Institution in the final Group B round robin fixture, at Fox’s Field. Spectators looked forward to a tight contest, both teams being 2 wins from 2.

Campbell settled quickly dominating all aspects of the game, with the exception of scrums. They butchered a couple of chances before a 9th minute Leo Graham try gave them a 5-0 lead.

In the 17th minute Campbell doubled their lead, when Charlie Haldane eluded would be tacklers on the right to dive over in the corner for a 10-0 lead.
Inst made occasional forays into the Campbell 22, but a well marshalled defence always cleared their lines.
Caleb Lockhart rounded the Inst defence, on the left, before dotting down under the posts, after 23 minutes. Alfie Hampton added the points to put Campbell out to 17-0.

Paul Henry’s 28th minute try completed the 1st half scoring, giving Campbell a comfortable 22-0 halftime lead.
After the break Inst showed resolve, forcing Campbell back and having them scramble in defence. Alex Harrower’s 40th minute try and Jonah Power’s conversion brought Inst back to 7-22.
However, 2 minutes later Haldane added his 2nd try for Campbell for a 27-7 lead. Rory Adair’s 59th minute try completed the scoring, giving Campbell an impressive 32-7 win and a place in the final on Wednesday 18thOctober.
