We caught up with Owls and Armagh 3rd XI’s in a Ulster Hockey Junior 7 league match at Roughfort on a very damp Saturday afternoon.
The game was played in quite testing conditions with driving rain and high winds but both teams gave their best.

The home keeper was the busier of the two goal minders but neither team could break the deadlock before half time.
Half Time: Owls 0 – 0 Armagh
The final two quarters were stalemate as well with the home team coming more into the game.

Numerous penalty corners were wasted during the match but the visitors were awarded one just as the final whistle blew and from this, Armagh’s No 2, Ruby O’Neill, did indeed break the deadlock with her strike being cruelly deflected into the home net.

Armagh left it late to win the points but based on the overall match, they were worthy winners.
Full Time: Owls 0 – 1 Armagh
