Despite schools being on half term we managed to catch a Schools Friendly match between Banbridge Academy and Regent House senior squads early Saturday morning.
Banbridge took the lead thirteen minutes in with a try from their wing Darragh Knox, converted by Andrew Jackson and four minutes later the Academy full back Joey Mackrell crossed to take the score to 14 – 0 after Jackson converted.

The home team got over for a third converted try just before half time, this one through the forward as Callum Little battled over, Jackson’s conversion taking it to 21 – 0 to Banbridge at the break.

A rejuvenated Regent got one back at the start of the second half with their outhalf Tom Bell crossing for center Evan McGonigal to convert to take the score to 21 – 7.

Banbridge’s Jackson added a try to his conversions eight minutes later to take it to 26 – 7 but Regent responded with a second try from bell, converted by McGonigal, to take it to 26 – 14.

The teams battled away in a tight second half but Banbridge had the last word with a late try from centre Luke Chapman, converted by Jackson taking the final score to Banbridge Academy 31 Regent House 14.
