International Friendly: Ireland 3 Chile 0

On Tuesday afternoon Ireland entertained Chile in a Pre World Cup warm up game at the National Sports Centre, Abbotstown, Co Dublin.

In very tentative and cagey 1^st half, neither side could find the net. Ireland shaded territory and possession but couldn’t put away any chances.

Elena Tice’s strike in the 32^nd minute opened the scoring to put Ireland 1-0 up. Two minutes later Irish Captain, Katie Mullan put away a cross from Deirdre Duke for a 2-0 lead. Ireland continued to press but couldn’t put away chances to lead 2-0 at the end of the 3^rd quarter.

The game was effectively over when Siofra O’Brien found the net, after 48 minutes. Both sides created chances in the remaining minutes. Ireland held on for a not altogether convincing win.
