Ulster Elks preseason friendlies continued on Monday evening, at the Jordanstown Sports Village, this time the visitors were Ards.

Elks were caught cold in the opening minutes, when Frankie Brown latched on to a through ball and guided it past keeper, Gemma Ferguson, to take a 1-0 lead after only 2 minutes.

However, the lead did not last long. Elks won a corner and from a cross shot Jess McMaster was on hand with the vital flick to equalise, after 4 minutes. It was 1-1 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Elks held the sway in territory and possession but couldn’t crack a stubborn Ards defence in a scoreless 2ndquarter. It was 1-1 at halftime.

Elks continued to dominate, and pressure told when Shannon Atkinson scored after 37 minutes, to put Elks 2-1 up. Ards absorbed more pressure and created chances for themselves but couldn’t pierce the Elks defence. Elks led 2-1 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
A defensive error allowed McMaster a one on one with the keeper, which she took, to put Elks 3-1 up, after 47 minutes.

Ards created chances and were awarded a penalty stroke, which was well saved by Ferguson, in the Elks goal.
There was no further scoring, and Elks ran out 3-1, convincing winners.
