1st XI Superleague: Grosvenor Grammar School 0 The Royal School Armagh 5

On a grey, but mild Saturday morning, The Royal School Armagh were the visitors to east Belfast to play Grosvenor Grammar School in a Superleague Tier A Group A fixture.

Daisy Nicholson gave RSA a 1st minute lead

In their first attack Daisy Nicholson gave RSA the lead, after only a minute’s play. Despite the majority of territory and possession RSA couldn’t break a resolute GGS defence and it remained 1-0 at the end of the 1stquarter.

RSA continued in the 2nd quarter, as they had in the 1st. They dominated midfield, consequently the GGS were starved of ball and only made occasional visits to the RSA half. RSA earned a plethora of penalty corners but couldn’t make any count. It remained 1-0 at halftime.

Hannah Redmond got RSA’s 2nd goal and was a constant thorn in the side of the GGS defence

The RSA attack clicked in the 3rd quarter. Hannah Redmond’s strike in the 33rd minute gave RSA a 2-0 lead. A minute later Rebecca Crawford made it 3-0. RSA continued to press and were rewarded by Joni Cunningham’s 43rd minute goal to lead 4-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

RSA’s 2nd half attacks were relentless

In the closing moments of the 4th quarter Mia Taylor’s goal completed a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
