Schools Friendly: Sullivan Upper 31 Bangor Grammar 0

We caught up with the Schools Senior Friendly, and local derby match, between Sullivan Upper School and Bangor Grammar on Saturday morning at Sullivan’s Belfast Road pitch.

Sullivan went on the attack from the start but it took them a while to break down the Bangor defence.

The first score came 10 minutes in when hooker Joss Davidson crossed for the home team to give Sullivan a 7 – 0 lead after Harry McKeown’s conversion.

Bangor looked for a response but were unable to break through the Sullivan defence and the home team doubled their lead about half an hour in with Hamish Johnston crossing for McKeown to convert to take the score to 14 – 0.

A late try from Sullivan’s Max Readman pushed the score out to 19 – 0 as the teams changed ends.

Bangor contributed plenty to the game but Sullivan had their tails up and they scored two more tries in the second half.

Readman went over for his second try mid way through the half, converted by McKeown, who added a try to his three conversions eight minutes later to give a final score of Sullivan 31 Bangor 0.
