On Monday afternoon Sullivan Upper School II were The Royal School Armagh’s visitors for a McDowell Cup 1st round tie.

Armagh caught Sullivan cold and in their first attack, from a through ball Gabby Moore slotted the ball home, after 3 minutes for a 1-0 lead. Both sides showed attacking flair but it was Sullivan, through Rose Bradley, who took the opportunity scoring following a penalty corner. It was 1-1 at the end of the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter Armagh began to take control but it wasn’t until the closing moments that they made their territorial dominance count Hannah Ross, who had been a thorn in the side of the Sullivan defence and midfield, scored to give Armagh a 2-1 halftime lead.
In a scoreless 3rd quarter both sides tested their opposite keepers but couldn’t take any chances created.
A 4th quarter Moore goal settled the tie, 3-1 to Armagh, who look forward to a 2nd round tie.
